Please share & sign my new petition on the Government petitions website to keep ticket offices open.
The RDG letter sent recently states ticket offices will be “repurposed” & staff are to be “multi skilled” (which they are already!) This is seen as turning ticket offices into cafes/shops. Our station staff do far more than just selling tickets already & have a vital role for passenger safety.
Ticket offices perform a vital role for rail passengers. As well as ticket sales they give help & advice on travel & carry out assistance & cycle reservations bookings, which can be difficult to book online or over the phone.
Some passengers can’t purchase tickets online, and closing ticket offices is likely to create accessibility problems for the elderly, people with disabilities & overseas visitors.
Surveys have shown passengers want staffed stations, and the Government should act to protect ticket offices.
