The Journey Begins

Coming shortly – a mostly rail-centred blog, with some transport issues thrown in.

No doubt my early memories of the numerous oil trains running past my garden to the Thame depot had an influence, until we moved away just before my 5th birthday.

I watched the tracks being lifted through Winchcombe some years later, and spent hours with friends on the disused line, and when the embryonic GWSR started at Toddington, I graduated from OO to 1:1 scale, spending much of my spare teenage time lurking and working on the restoration of GWR Manors 7828 and 7821, whilst keeping 5952 Cogan Hall painted until she could be restored.

Many years later and I’m within walking distance of Highley station on the Severn Valley Railway. But it won’t all be SVR orientated, lots to come on mainline UK and international rail, transport issues and more.
